Professor Saeed Ahmed Khan is Dean and Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Delhi University, India, awarded in 1985. His extensive career at the college began in 1992 as Head of the Educational Unit, progressed to Chief Academic Officer in August 2001, and culminated in his reappointment as Dean in February 2007. In these roles, he has been instrumental in key developments, including the revision of the syllabus and curriculum, initiation of the ‘Pharmatalk’ lecture series, introduction of advanced courses in various pharmaceutical fields, infrastructure upgrades such as new research labs and enhanced library facilities, and the launch of certificate courses in Drug Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacy Licensing, and Pharmacovigilance. Under his leadership, the institution received the Education Leadership Award in 2018 specifically for the Dean and the GCC Pharma Outstanding Education Award in 2016. The college also secured accreditation from the Ministry of Education's Commission for Academic Accreditation, provisional international accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in 2023, and full ACPE accreditation for its BPharm program valid until 2028.
Professor Khan's research specializations encompass pharmaceutical chemistry and medicinal chemistry. He has co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, including "Pharmaceutical equivalence study of marketed ibuprofen soft gelatin capsules" (2021, Journal of Applied Pharmaceutical Science), "Free radical scavenging activities and nonessential trace toxic metals analysis in some selected fruits" (2023, Journal of Applied Pharmaceutical Science), "Role of Glyco-Persica® in Targeting Diabetes Type 2: A Narrative Review of Randomized Controlled Trials" (2013, International Scholarly Research Notices), "In-Vitro, Anti-Bacterial Activities of Aqueous Extracts of Common Plants Found in Northern Emirates of UAE" (2013, Middle-East Journal of Scientific Research), "Quantification of water soluble vitamins in six date palm cultivars (Phoenix dactylifera L.)" (2013, Saudi Pharmaceutical Journal), and "HPLC analysis of water-soluble vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6) in soft drinks" (2009, African Journal of Biotechnology). Numerous research papers from faculty and students at Dubai Pharmacy College acknowledge his support as Dean. His enduring contributions have solidified the college's position as the pioneering pharmacy institution in the GCC region, fostering high-quality pharmacy education and international partnerships through Memoranda of Understanding with universities such as the University of Strathclyde, UK, and Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai.
