Dr Saif Dewan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law and Business at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney campus, where he serves as the Campus Student Advisor for Business. He earned his PhD in Business Information Technology from the Australian National University (ANU). Currently, he teaches Quantitative Methods for Business and Business Information Technology courses. Dr Dewan holds honorary research positions at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the University of Twente, Netherlands. Before joining Notre Dame Australia, he undertook significant teaching and research roles at institutions including the ANU, UNSW, and the London School of Economics (LSE) over more than a decade. Additionally, he has provided consultancy services in IT and Business Analytics to Australian and foreign governments, international organisations like the United Nations, and multinational corporations such as Samsung. Dr Dewan has successfully supervised numerous PhD students and Honours theses in areas related to IT and business, including topics such as Conceptualising Project Portfolio Management, Electronic Human Resources Management Systems and Organizational Performance, and Electronic Advertisements and Consumers' Responses in Australia.
Dr Dewan's research specializations include IT artefact design and evaluation, business analytics and AI, digital innovation and entrepreneurship, cybersecurity management, research methods, and business IT in the context of the future of work. He maintains extensive research collaborations domestically and internationally. His key publications feature journal articles such as 'Design of an innovative IT platform for analytics knowledge management' in Future Generation Computer Systems (2021, with Fethi A. Rabhi, Madhushi Bandara, and Kun Lu); 'The interplay between emotion, cognition and information recall from websites with relevant and irrelevant images: A Neuro-IS study' in Information & Management (2018, with Amir Riaz, Shirley Gregor, and Qing Xu); and 'Why PLS-SEM is suitable for complex modeling? An empirical illustration in Big Data Analytics Quality' in Production Planning and Control (2017, with Shahriar Akter and Samuel Fosso Wamba). He has also authored the book chapter 'The Online Feminine Mystique: Developing a Research Agenda for Women's Use of Social Media' (2016, with R. Johns, D. Mackrell, and N. Dale) and several conference papers, including 'Towards anchoring Users’ Switching to Mobile Banking with Expectancy Theory' (ACIS 2013) and 'Past, Present and Future of M-Banking Research: A Literature Review' (ACIS 2010). Furthermore, Dr Dewan has served on the boards of various technology startups, NGOs, and private schools domestically and internationally.
