About Salman

Salman Khan is an Associate Professor of Computer Vision at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Western Australia, where he received an honorable mention on the Dean’s list. Prior to joining MBZUAI, he served as a senior scientist at the Inception Institute of Artificial Intelligence from 2018 to 2020, as a research scientist at Data61-CSIRO from 2016 to 2018, and as a visiting researcher at National ICT Australia in 2015. He has held an honorary lecturer position at the Australian National University since 2016.

Professor Khan’s research focuses on computer vision and machine learning, with particular emphasis on learning from limited data including zero-shot and few-shot learning, adversarial robustness of deep neural networks, and continual lifelong learning systems. He has published more than 80 papers in leading venues such as IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, International Journal of Computer Vision, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, NeurIPS, IJCAI, IROS, and AAAI. His contributions include notable works on vision transformers, incremental object detection, and generative modeling. Professor Khan has received several honors, including Fulbright and IPRS scholarships, multiple outstanding reviewer awards at CVPR, a best paper award at ICPRAM 2020, and top placements in CVPR-NTIRE image enhancement challenges. He has served as an area chair for conferences including CVPR, as a guest editor for IEEE TPAMI, and as a referee for agencies such as the Australian Research Council and European Research Council. He has also acted as an investigator on competitive research grants.
