Rate My Professor Samuel Frimpong

Dr. Samuel Frimpong serves as an Associate Lecturer in the School of Built Environment at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney), with expertise in Property and Construction. He earned his PhD in Built Environment from UNSW Sydney, MSc in Construction Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana, and BSc (Hons) in Building Technology from the same institution. Before entering academia full-time, Frimpong gained 13 years of professional experience as a construction manager and quantity surveyor. He collaborated with government and not-for-profit organizations to advance youth well-being in the construction sector. Frimpong joined UNSW in 2022 as sessional staff and became a full-time academic in 2024. He teaches courses including Construction Materials, Industrial and Infrastructure Construction, Construction Risk, Health and Safety Management, and Construction Risk Management and Business Analytics.

Frimpong's research specializations encompass robotics, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things in construction—covering off-site and on-site applications, social robotics, novel materials for robotic use, workforce training, and sustainability—as well as construction health and safety with emphasis on mental health and youth well-being, particularly in the Global South. His contributions extend to built environment education, including education for sustainable development, metacognition, game-based learning, and postgraduate research skills.
