Sandra Scannell has been recognized for her exemplary administrative leadership. In the University of Otago Christchurch Matariki Staff Value Awards, she received the MANA WHAKATUPU / Leadership award for leading the administration process for the site visit related to the internationalisation of the Master of Nursing Science programme, contributing significantly to the accreditation outcomes that enhance the University's international standing. In 2025, she was part of a team awarded in the Tōtara tū ki te parae / Social accountability category for their annual commitment to making a difference through collective use of Social Impact Leave to support a charity with time and financial donations, alongside Fran Barrett, Katrina Notton, Marie Watson, Brenda Rogers, Isabel Lyckholm, Clara-Ann Paul, Cameron Montague Ebbs, and Heather Reilly.
