Sandy Baxter is a Lecturer in the Curtin School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. She serves within the Office of the Provost portfolio. As a Registered Nurse who has lived and worked in Singapore, she brings practical clinical experience to her academic role. Sandy Baxter is the Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) Conversion Program for Registered Nurses (Top-up) at Curtin Singapore, facilitating diploma conversion for practicing nurses. She coordinates undergraduate nursing programs in Singapore and teaches units including Clinical Education for Practice (NURS4009) tailored for the Singapore campus. Her contributions extend to supporting nursing students in making a difference in the healthcare landscape through targeted educational programs.
In addition to teaching, Sandy Baxter provides Master-level research supervision for research units in the Singapore Master of Science (Clinical Leadership) Program (by Coursework). Her interests lie in nursing education for international students, focusing on professional development, academic integrity, and innovative curriculum design. She presented at the HERDSA 2025 On-site Conference in the session 'Game on: Building international nursing students’ professional nurse values with academic integrity' during Concurrent Session 3H on 9 July 2025, addressing competence-based assessment challenges. She also shared research outcomes in 'Equity by Design: Applying Equity-Centred Design Thinking to Curriculum Development' from a culturally safe lens at Curtin University School of Nursing, Perth. Furthermore, she collaborated on educational initiatives, including a presentation with Helen Godwin on PebblePad implementation in nursing and midwifery at Curtin University, featured in the WATSUP Nursing and Midwifery 2021 event and Western Australia Teaching Support resources. Through these activities, Sandy Baxter advances nursing pedagogy, clinical leadership, and ethical practice in international contexts.
