Sisodiya's research interests encompass epilepsy genomics, pharmacogenomics, novel phenotyping, translational genomics, genetic causes of epilepsy, treatment responses, drug resistance, neuropathology, and the effects of climate change on neurological health. He has made major contributions to epilepsy genetics and pharmacogenetics, leading international initiatives as joint chief investigator of the ENIGMA-Epilepsy Project, coordinator of the EU-funded EpiPGX epilepsy pharmacogenomics project, and principal investigator for EpilepsyPlus, SUDEP, clinical translation, and TMS-EEG projects. He also leads the EpilepsyClimateChange project, which held the first conference on epilepsy and climate change, promoting cross-disciplinary collaborations. Key publications include 'Climate change and disorders of the nervous system' (The Lancet Neurology, 2024) and 'Climate change and the brain' (Practical Neurology, 2023). Sisodiya chairs the Epilepsy Advisory Group of the Association of British Neurologists and the ILAE Joint Task Force on Clinical Genetic Testing in the Epilepsies, serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Dravet Syndrome UK, and is patron of Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood UK. Appointed Transformation Director at the Epilepsy Society in 2025 and Deputy Director for Sustainability and Climate Change at UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology in 2021, his honors include the Ambassador for Epilepsy Award from the ILAE (2023) and the UCL Sustainability Research Award (2022). With over 260 peer-reviewed publications and more than 13,000 citations, his work has profoundly impacted epilepsy research and clinical management.
