Dr. Sanjay Anand is an Assistant Lecturer in the Discipline of Agriculture and Food Technology at the University of the South Pacific Samoa Campus. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture with a focus on Soil Science from the University of the South Pacific, along with a Master in Agriculture in Soil Science from the same university, a Bachelor of Agriculture, and a Diploma in Tropical Agriculture awarded by the Fiji College of Agriculture. His expertise lies in Agricultural Science and Agronomy, with multi-disciplinary research interests spanning animal science, soil sciences, and plant sciences. Dr. Anand has been recognized with several awards, including the Philippine Society for Soil Science and Technology Award in 2013 for the best research paper in the senior category, the ACIAR-USP PhD Scholarship Award, the USP Graduate Research Assistant Award, and the PSC Award. He has contributed to research on topics such as dry matter accumulation, nutrient uptake in agricultural systems, alternative bedding materials for poultry, and responses of yam species to various growing media.
