About Sanket

Sanket S. Patel serves as an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Ahmedabad University. He earned his Ph.D. from the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), Gandhinagar, India. Prior to his current role, Patel held the position of Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) at Marwadi University, Rajkot, and served in teaching capacities at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar and DA-IICT. He is the founder of Sensegood Instruments Private Limited, operating in 44 countries, and its subsidiary Sensegood Space and Defence Electronics. Patel also consults for Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Ministry of Defence, on collaborative R&D in electronics defence systems. His research tenure at the Space Applications Centre (SAC), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), resulted in the successful development of Ku-band satellite receiver front-end Microwave ICs deployed on the OCEANSAT satellite. Demonstrating entrepreneurial prowess, he has developed numerous commercially successful electronic products, including a universal color spectrophotometer (2021, patented technology), infrared temperature sensing instrument (2020), and VHF Vector Network Analyzer (2020).

Patel's research interests include antenna design, RF and microwave circuits, sensors and sensor applications, applied physics, non-destructive material characterization, metamaterials, frequency selective surfaces, microwave absorbers from composites, applied AI/ML, real-time video analytics, image processing, and multi-disciplinary experimental research. He has authored over 20 research publications in IEEE, Springer, and Wiley outlets and holds a granted patent. Key accolades encompass the IEEE Award for Doctoral Research in India—first place in the doctoral category (2014)—and the Ahmedabad University Chairman’s Award for Experiments to Advance Active Learning (2022). As Principal Investigator, he leads externally funded projects from agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), USDA, and ISRO, including scalable digitization of Indian classical and folk performing arts, low-cost material characterization technology, unified grain moisture algorithm implementation, intelligent pipeline leak detection, and technology solutions for salt pan workers in the Little Rann of Kutch. Patel contributes to university governance through committees like Career Development, IEEE Student Branch as Counselor, Ph.D. Admissions, and Infrastructure & Facilities Management, and serves on reviewing panels for conferences, journals, startups, and fellowships.
