Sarah Röder is the Project Coordinator for the HFU ProProf initiative in the Human Resources Department at Hochschule Furtwangen. She manages central project operations and public relations for this federal-state funded program under the FH-Personal initiative, designed to bolster the recruitment and qualification of professors at universities of applied sciences. Running until the end of 2028, HFU ProProf supports early-career academics through a comprehensive talent pool, career counseling, workshops, and coaching sessions now offered in English. The project features innovative tools like a digital Serious Game simulating professorship demands and opportunities, informed by interviews with HFU lecturers on emotional and interpersonal aspects, with internal testing planned for September 2025. Supporting materials include image films showcasing lecturers' research and networking, such as Amazon excursions and water protection engagements, alongside a miniseries highlighting labs and projects across departments.
Further efforts encompass the cross-institutional HAW-Karriere mentoring program, providing one-year individualized guidance from professors and experts in science, industry, administration, and culture. Postdoc tandems pair promoted researchers with HFU professors and partners like Karl Storz, SICK, and KLS Martin for application-oriented research. Hochschule Furtwangen's membership in the Dual Career Network Germany facilitates professional support for dual-career partners, aiding the attraction of international talent. Sarah Röder advises on professorship opportunities at HFU and acts as the primary project contact, contributing to the university's strategic personnel development.
