Dr. Saraju P. Mohanty is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas, Denton, TX, a Tier-One R1 research university. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of South Florida in 2003, with a focus on energy and transient power minimization during behavioral synthesis; an M.Eng. in Systems Science and Automation from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 1999; and a B.Tech. (Honors) in Electrical Engineering from the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology in 1995. As director of the Smart Electronic Systems Laboratory, Mohanty's research centers on Smart Electronic Systems, including smart healthcare, smart agriculture, smart electronics, and security by design. His projects have received funding from the National Science Foundation, Semiconductor Research Corporation, U.S. Air Force, National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research, Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum, and Mission Innovation.
Mohanty has authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles, three books—including the 2016 PROSE Award-winning 'Nanoelectronic Mixed-Signal System Design' (McGraw-Hill, 2015)—and holds four U.S. patents. His Google Scholar metrics include over 19,000 citations, an h-index of 67, and an i10-index of 332, placing him among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in Computer Hardware and Architecture. He has received the Fulbright Specialist Award (2021), IEEE Consumer Electronics Society Outstanding Service Award (2020), IEEE-CS-TCVLSI Distinguished Leadership Award (2018), Glorious India Award (2017), Society for Technical Communication Award of Merit (2017), UNT Toulouse Scholars Award (2016-17), and IEEE Distinguished Lecturer designation (2017), along with 21 best paper awards. Mohanty served as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine (2016-2021) and founding Editor-in-Chief of IEEE-CS-TCVLSI VLSI Circuits and Systems Letter (2015-2018), chaired the IEEE-CS Technical Committee on VLSI (2014-2018), and holds editorial positions on IEEE Transactions on Big Data, IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, and ACM Journal on Emerging Technologies in Computing Systems.
