Dr. Satendra Kumar serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna. Prior to joining IIT Patna, he held the position of Assistant Professor at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2021. His doctoral thesis, titled "Resource Management in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks: An Economics Perspective," was supervised by Prof. Sudip Misra. Earlier, he earned an M.Tech. in Computer Technology from the National Institute of Technology, Raipur in 2014, achieving a CGPA of 8.82/10 and receiving the Gold Medal under the supervision of Prof. Anamika Yadav. He obtained his B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering in 2012 from Saraswati Higher Education & Technical College of Engineering, Varanasi, affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, with a percentage of 78.36%.
Dr. Kumar's research specializations include wireless networks, game theory, network economics, mechanism design, machine learning, Internet of Things, blockchain, and game-theoretic applications. His notable publications feature "Backhaul-Aware Storage Allocation and Pricing Mechanism for RSU-Based Caching Networks" published in IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications in 2022 (with S. Misra), "Enabling Multi-Source Device-to-Device Content Delivery in Cellular Networks" in IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology in 2021 (with S. Misra), "Joint Content Sharing and Incentive Mechanism for Cache-Enabled Device-to-Device Networks" in IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology in 2021 (with S. Misra), "Procurement-Based User Association for LTE-Advanced HetNets" in IEEE Systems Journal in 2020 (with S. Misra), and "ForkRL: Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Forking Prevention in Blockchain-Enabled Federated IoMT" in IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics in 2025 (with S. K. Ajay and R. Sharma). Among his honors are the MHRD Fellowship for Ph.D. from 2015 onwards, MHRD Fellowship for M.Tech. from 2012 to 2014, M.Tech. Gold Medal in 2014, Institute Travel Grant for the ICACCCT IEEE Conference in 2014, second rank overall across departments in his undergraduate program in 2012, and second rank in school in 2006.
