Dr. Satyajit Mondal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Patna. He holds a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from Kalyani Government Engineering College, an M.Tech. in Transportation Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi, and a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the same institution. Prior to his appointment at NIT Patna in October 2022, he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad from 2021 to 2022.
Dr. Mondal's research specializations encompass traffic and pedestrian flow modelling, road safety and blackspots solutions, and highway geometric design. He has produced 21 journal papers and 23 conference papers, with his publications cited more than 380 times on Google Scholar. Prominent works include 'Identifying the Critical Risk Factors for Road Crashes Based on Large-Scale Safety Audits in India' (KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering, 2023), 'Challenges in Embracing Electric Vehicles: Exploring the Policy Landscape and Way Forward' (Transportation in Developing Economies, 2025), 'Comparative Analysis of Saturation Flow Using Various PCU Estimation Methods' (2020), and 'Assessment of Risk Factors for Road Crashes based on In-Service Safety Audits' (EASTS Proceedings, 2015). He has also contributed to the book 'Innovation and Sustainability in Civil Engineering: Shaping Tomorrow's Infrastructure' (Springer, 2022). Currently, Dr. Mondal leads funded projects, supervises postgraduate students, and serves as Assistant Warden for the HMC hostel at NIT Patna, advancing sustainable transportation solutions and infrastructure safety.
