About Scott

Scott Cahalan is the Deputy Chief Executive of Trades and Primary Industries at Charles Darwin University (CDU), leading vocational training initiatives within the CDU TAFE division. In this senior administrative role, he oversees programs designed to equip students with practical skills in various trades, including automotive, electrical, and construction, as well as primary industries such as agriculture, fisheries, and related sectors critical to the Northern Territory economy. His leadership ensures alignment between training offerings and industry needs, supporting workforce development in regional Australia.

In addition to his executive responsibilities, Cahalan serves as a lecturer at Charles Darwin University Technical and Further Education (TAFE). He has conducted campus tours and presentations, such as guiding U.S. Navy Sailors from Sea Combat Squadron 23 through the Casuarina TAFE campus on May 29, 2024, highlighting vocational training facilities. Cahalan presented at the CDU TAFE campus tour event during Australian Training Awards Week. He plays a key role in recruitment, acting as the primary contact for positions like Lecturer in Driver Training. In response to industry concerns over apprenticeship training disruptions in March 2026, Cahalan confirmed that CDU had engaged two external consultants from the ACT and Queensland to resolve issues and communicated updates directly to affected students via email.
