About Scott

Dr Scott Munro is a Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Practice at the University of Surrey in the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Surrey awarded in 2020 for research on the prehospital management of acute stroke patients. Additional qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Practice (Prehospital Critical Care) from St George's University of London in 2022, a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Surrey in 2025, and a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Practice from the University of Surrey in 2012.

Dr Munro serves as Impact Champion for the Workforce, Organisation and Wellbeing Expert Group and maintains a clinical role as Advanced Practice Lead and Critical Care Paramedic with the South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. His research specializations focus on improving prehospital clinical care, staff wellbeing, and the implementation of innovative technologies such as drones for cardiac arrest response and video livestreaming in emergency dispatch. He has co-authored UK Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee clinical stroke guidelines and contributed to publications including Munro et al. (2023) on paramedics' views regarding prehospital 12-lead electrocardiograms in acute stroke patients and Munro et al. (2022) on outcomes associated with prehospital 12-lead electrocardiograms in stroke cases. Dr Munro is a member of the Royal College of Paramedics and has presented research nationally and internationally on prehospital care topics.
