Dr. Shadi W. Hasan is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Khalifa University and Director of the Center for Membranes and Advanced Water Technology (CMAT). He holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the United Arab Emirates University, an M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Concordia University, and a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Concordia University. His research focuses on seawater desalination, membranes and nanomaterials, wastewater treatment and reuse, and sustainable advanced water technologies. Dr. Hasan has authored over 200 journal publications and conference proceedings, along with 7 filed patents, 1 edited book, and 17 book chapters. His work has secured approximately USD 13.5 million in internal and external funding and has led to the supervision of more than 60 MSc and PhD students and research fellows. He has served in editorial roles for scientific journals and has been recognized as one of the Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University since 2020.
Dr. Hasan established the Water Purification Laboratory at Khalifa University and leads multiple research projects on advanced membrane processes and water purification technologies. His contributions emphasize the development of innovative solutions for water security through fundamental and applied research, national and international collaborations, and technology dissemination.
