Dr. Shadi Hijazi serves as Assistant Professor and Head of the General Education Department at Al Ghurair University in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a role he has held since September 2008. He holds a PhD in Language and Education from Universiti Utara Malaysia obtained in 2017, a Master's degree in Curricula and Methods of Teaching English Language from Amman Arab University for Graduate Studies in 2003, and a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Philadelphia University in 2000. Before joining Al Ghurair University, Dr. Hijazi worked as an English Language Lecturer at Aldar University College in Dubai from 2005 to 2008 and as a high school English teacher for the Ministry of Education in Jordan from 2000 to 2004.
In his current position, Dr. Hijazi teaches general education courses such as English Composition, Technical Writing, Communication Skills, Critical Thinking, Fundamentals of Innovation, Research and Learning Skills, and English proficiency test preparation including IELTS, TOEFL, and EmSAT with a reported 90% success rate. He also delivers Arabic language courses for non-native speakers. As department head, he oversees the General Education program, coordinates distance learning initiatives, advises conditional admission students, supervises extracurricular activities, and develops curricula. Dr. Hijazi founded and organizes the Annual AGU Forum on Language and Education and serves as Brand Ambassador for the Al Ghurair Young Thinkers Program. His research centers on leadership styles in higher education, EFL teaching strategies, and student satisfaction. Notable publications include his PhD thesis 'Leadership Styles and Their Relationship with the Private University Employees' Job Satisfaction in United Arab Emirates' (2017), 'The Impact of English Language Lecturers’ Leadership Styles on Educational Student Satisfaction: A Case Study of University in UAE' (2022), 'How to Enhance EFL Communication Skills Through Project Work' (2022), 'Composition and Writing Skills' (2016, co-authored), and 'A Guide to Technical Writing Skills' (co-authored).
