Shalon Bull serves as Professor II in Nutrition at Palm Beach State College on the Lake Worth campus, a position she has held since 2001. In this role, she delivers nutrition courses both in traditional face-to-face settings and through online platforms, fostering student engagement in topics related to human nutrition. Her robust academic background includes a Master of Science degree with a specialization in Human Nutrition from the University of Florida, a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition with a specialization in Dietetics from the same university, and ongoing doctoral studies pursuing a Doctorate of Clinical Nutrition at the University of North Florida. Bull completed her dietetic internship with Andrews University at Florida Hospital in Orlando, providing her with essential hands-on experience in clinical nutrition settings. She primarily teaches Elements of Nutrition (HUN 1201) in both face-to-face and online formats via Canvas, as well as SOW 105 Community Based Learning.
Bull maintains active professional credentials as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and as a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LD/N) by the State of Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance. She is further certified in Effective College Instruction by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) and holds Faculty Study Abroad Certification. A dedicated member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Bull contributes significantly to institutional service through her involvement in several key committees at Palm Beach State College, including the Wellness Committee, General Education Council, S&PD Committee, General Education Assessment Committee, Health Science Academic Community Group, Quality Learning Improvement Committee, Employee Resource Group: Health & Wellness, and the Committee for Academic Promotions. She engages the campus community via public outreach, such as Lunch and Learn sessions on stress and eating, Science Seminars, and wellness presentations including 'Lunch N Learn: Are You Stressed?' and 'Lunch and Learn--Stress and Eating,' demonstrating her commitment to health education and student well-being.
