Shana Stump serves as Clinical Associate Professor of Political Science in the IU School of Liberal Arts at Indiana University Indianapolis, previously Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). She holds the position of Director of the Paralegal Studies Program and acts as the Campus Pre-Law Advisor, assisting students across IU Indianapolis with law school preparation, including access to the Pre-Law Student Canvas site and the Six-Year BA/JD Program. Professor Stump earned her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington and her A.B. from Bowdoin College. As a licensed attorney in Indiana, she brings practical legal expertise to her teaching and advising roles. Professor Stump teaches a range of courses in the Political Science Department and Paralegal Studies and Legal Studies programs, including Introduction to Law (POLS-Y211), Constitutional Law, Gender and the Law (POLS-Y380), Litigation, and Legal Writing. She received the 2016 Curriculum Enhancement Grant as principal investigator for her project 'Taking Introduction to Law Online,' funded at $5,000 to develop a fully online section of POLS-Y211, expand online Political Science offerings, boost enrollment in Political Science and legal studies programs, and facilitate further online course development in legal studies. Additionally, she was awarded an Open Educational Resource (OER) Development Grant for POLS-Y380 Gender and the Law, impacting 35 students with projected cost savings of $4,060. She also participated in the Course Material Transformation Fellowship program, seeking free classroom materials for Gender and the Law. Professor Stump contributes to faculty governance through involvement in the School of Liberal Arts Faculty Assembly and Langsam Office of Student Affairs, including approving lists of graduates. As program director, she reviews transfer requests for adherence to paralegal competencies and student learning outcomes in the Law in Liberal Arts and Paralegal Program.
