Dr Sharyn Curran serves as a Senior Lecturer and Director of Graduate Research in the School of Management and Marketing within the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University. She has pursued two distinct career paths: initially in industry as a business architect in information technology, followed by a transition to academia as a senior academic. In her academic role, she teaches and conducts research in object-oriented design within the Business Information Systems discipline. As a Research Data Champion, her expertise spans business/IT integration, research data management, and supervision of higher degree by research (HDR) candidates. Curran supervises HDR students on topics including the masked prevalence and costs of working with female primary psychopaths in the community services sector and the hidden costs of female psychopathic behaviour in Tasmanian welfare organisations.
Curran's research interests encompass the diffusion and assimilation of technologies, IT strategy and governance, knowledge management, and business architecture. Her scholarly contributions include the 2025 book chapter 'Female Corporate Psychopaths and how they differ from Male Corporate Psychopaths,' co-authored with F. Girkin, and the journal contribution 'Trust Me! Trust You? The Indicators of Trust on buyer-seller relationships Pre- and Post-COVID-19,' co-authored with E. Jackson in 2023. Her ResearchGate profile documents seven publications with four citations. She has presented at academic conferences, such as Quality in Postgraduate Research (QPR) 2024 on HDR researcher well-being alongside R. Balapumi, and HERDSA 2025. Curran engages in public outreach as a media expert, discussing female psychopaths and their differences from male counterparts on platforms like Curtin FM. As Director of Graduate Research, she supports postgraduate programs including the Doctor of Business Administration.
