About Shengfeng

Shengfeng He is an Associate Professor of Computer Science in the School of Computing and Information Systems at Singapore Management University, where he leads the Visual Understanding and Generation Laboratory. He joined SMU in February 2023. Previously, he served on the faculty of the School of Computer Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology. He received his PhD from City University of Hong Kong in 2015, and his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Macau University of Science and Technology in 2009 and 2011, respectively. He also visited the Computational Perception Laboratory at Georgia Institute of Technology in 2015.

His research interests include computer vision, image and video processing, and generative models. He is a senior member of IEEE and a distinguished member of CCF. He has received the Lee Kong Chian Fellowship in 2024, the Google South Asia & Southeast Asia Research Award in 2023, the CCF-Tencent Open Research Fund Excellence Award in 2020, and the Mark Weiser Best Paper Award at PerCom in 2024. He serves as conference chair of Pacific Graphics 2026, Associate Editor-in-Chief of Neurocomputing, lead guest editor of the International Journal of Computer Vision, Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, and Visual Intelligence, as well as senior area chair or area chair for conferences including NeurIPS, CVPR, ICLR, ICML, AAAI, IJCAI, and BMVC. He is also a College of Graduate Research Studies Faculty Fellow and Lee Kong Chian Fellow at SMU.
