About Shengkai

Shengkai Liao is a Professor (Senior Engineer) at the University of Science and Technology of China. He received a doctorate degree in engineering from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. His research focuses on quantum science, space electronics systems, and quantum communication systems. Liao has contributed to major projects including the HJ1B satellite, Tiangong-2 space laboratory, and the Quantum Science Experiment Satellite. In the Quantum Science Experiment Satellite Project, he served as chief designer of the Quantum Experimental Control and Processor payload, deputy chief designer of the Quantum Entangled Transmitter payload, and chief designer of the Quantum Communication Terminal in the ground station. For the Tiangong-2 Quantum Key Distribution Project, he was chief designer of the electrical system.

Liao has authored numerous research papers published in leading journals, including multiple articles in Nature, one in Nature Photonics, three in Physical Review Letters, three in IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, and one in Optics Express. His work has contributed to advancements in satellite-based quantum key distribution and related quantum technologies.
