Rate My Professor Sherif Saad

Dr. Saad's research specializations encompass cybersecurity, dependability, resilient computing, and applied machine learning. His work has advanced detection techniques for P2P botnets, fake news, opinion spams, ransomware via registry key monitoring, and relation extraction for cyber threat intelligence knowledge graphs. Select key publications include "Botnet detection based on traffic behavior analysis and flow intervals" published in Computers & Security (2014), "Detecting P2P botnets through network behavior analysis and machine learning" (2011), "Multilayer ransomware detection using grouped registry key interactions" (2020), "Spam review detection using self-organizing maps and convolutional neural networks" in Computers & Security (2021), "Effect of text augmentation and adversarial training on fake news detection" (2022), and "Entity and relation extractions for threat intelligence knowledge graphs" (2024). He has co-edited books on machine learning for computer and cyber security with Issa Traore and Isaac Woungang. Additionally, Sherif Saad has guest-edited special issues, such as on security and privacy in mobile sensing applications for the journal Sensors, and contributed to program committees for conferences like TrustCom 2023 and CompSAC.
