Mr. S. Shifaan serves as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Teacher Education at the National Institute of Education in Sri Lanka. In this role, he contributes to the department’s mission of preparing educator-trainers and supporting academics through formal qualification programs including diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and MPhil programs. He acts as National Organizer for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education programme and National Coordinator for the Master of Education programme, with additional responsibilities as coordinator for Tamil and English mediums.
Mr. Shifaan’s research focuses on teacher education and professional development. He has co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, including “A study on the readiness and attitudes of Sri Lankan Tamil medium teachers towards the use of ICT in teaching and learning” (2023), “Primary school teachers’ perceptions towards the Remote Teaching and Learning Activities (RTLA) during lockdown period in Sri Lanka” (2022), “Ensuring teaching and learning amidst the economic crisis: Strategies employed by school principals in Sri Lanka” (2023), and “Postgraduate Students’ Experience with Zoom-Based Learning: Focus on Affordability, Access, Teaching Quality, and Assessment” (2024).
