About Shimpei

Shimpei Endo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Electro-Communications. He earned his bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Tokyo between 2005 and 2009. He completed his master's and doctoral degrees in the Department of Physics at the University of Tokyo under the supervision of Masahito Ueda, finishing his PhD in 2014. During his graduate studies, he held a JSPS Research Fellowship for Young Scientists (DC1).

Following his doctorate, Endo served as a postdoctoral fellow at École normale supérieure, Laboratoire Kastler Brossel from 2014 to 2016, supported by a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research Abroad. He then worked as a Research Fellow at Monash University from 2016 to 2018, including an ARC DECRA Fellowship. From 2018 to 2023, he was an Assistant Professor at Tohoku University, holding positions in the Frontier Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and the Nuclear Theory Group in the Department of Physics, and was named a Prominent Research Fellow in 2021. He joined the University of Electro-Communications as Associate Professor in October 2023. His research centers on few- and many-body physics, cold atoms, Efimov physics, and related areas in theoretical quantum physics. Endo has received several honors, including the Young Scientist Award of the Physical Society of Japan in 2020, the 14th Senshu-kai Research Award from Tohoku University in 2022, and recognition as an Outstanding Referee by the American Physical Society in 2025. He has also served as an organizer for workshops on clusters in quantum systems and contributed to condensed-matter physics summer schools.
