Dr. Shweta Agrawal serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Life Science and Biotechnology at the Shri Vaishnav Institute of Science, Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. She earned her B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Microbiology from the Department of Microbiology at Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, and is qualified in CSIR-UGC NET. Her academic career at Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya highlights her leadership in fostering research and education in life sciences.
Dr. Agrawal's research interests center on microbiology, bioremediation, environmental biotechnology, microbial synthesis of nanoparticles, biopolymers, nanocomposites, and their antibacterial properties. Her publications address critical areas such as microbial bioremediation of azo dyes in textile industry effluents, cellulases of bacterial origin and their applications, biotreatment of azo dye-containing effluents using bacterial consortia in packed bed biofilm reactors, and drumstick tree leaf extracts' potential applications. Notable works include 'Microbial Bioremediation of Azo Dyes in Textile Industry Effluent: A Review on Bioreactor-Based Studies' (2019), 'Cellulases of Bacterial Origin and their Applications: A Review' (2015), and 'Biotreatment of azo dye containing textile industry effluent by a developed bacterial consortium immobilised on brick pieces in an indigenously designed packed bed biofilm reactor' (2023). With over 600 citations on Google Scholar, her contributions demonstrate significant influence in biotechnology and microbiology. She has organized events like the 8th Sir C. V. Raman Memorial Oration, BRSI-sponsored biotechnology workshops, and sessions on AI in life sciences. Dr. Agrawal serves on university committees for activities and alumni, and is a life member of the Microbiological Society.
