Siân Flynne is the School Business Manager of the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at Curtin Business School, Faculty of Business and Law, Curtin University, Perth, Australia. She earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours (BA(Hons)) and a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from the University of Western Australia (UWA), a Postgraduate Diploma in Business (PGradDipBus), and a Master of Commerce (MCom) from Curtin University. She is also a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA). Prior to joining Curtin University in 1989, Siân Flynne spent nine years at the Perth branch of the Australian Taxation Office. From 1989 until December 2008, she worked as a lecturer in Curtin Business School, where she served as a unit coordinator. In 2011, she was appointed School Business Manager for the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance. That same year, she acted as Non-Executive Vice Chair of Community Vision.
Siân Flynne's academic publications focus on innovations in accounting education. She co-authored with Susan Bolt the paper 'Balancing the ledger between compliance and innovation: A case study of pedagogical change in financial accounting education' in 2010, documented in Curtin University's eSpace repository. Additionally, she authored 'The Customisation of Perdisco e-Learning Resources to Enhance Student Learning in an Accounting Course in Various Locations Using Differing Modes of Learning', published in The International Journal of Learning, Volume 16, Number 6, 2009. During her lecturing tenure, Siân Flynne explored alternative teaching methods for accounting units, negotiating over two years for the adoption of Perdisco e-learning resources to improve student outcomes across different learning modes and locations. She holds the position of Vice President (Professional Staff) for the Curtin Branch of the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU). Siân Flynne has taken Curtin University's Panel Pledge to promote gender equity and inclusion in panel compositions.
