Dr. Leong Siew Lian is a registered pharmacist and lecturer in the School of Pharmacy at Monash University Malaysia, appointed to this position on 14 February 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) from Universiti Malaya awarded in 2004, a Master of Clinical Pharmacy from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2010, and a PhD in Pharmacy from Monash University in 2018. Prior to joining Monash, she worked in public hospitals and served as a clinical lecturer at the University of Cyberjaya (formerly Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences), where she conducted and supervised several undergraduate and master's research projects. Her professional experience spans clinical practice and academia, focusing on enhancing patient outcomes through pharmacy interventions.
Dr. Leong's academic interests center on clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice, with a particular emphasis on improving treatment outcomes in oncology to promote better quality of life for cancer patients, medication safety and effectiveness, rational medication use, and evidence synthesis research. She is a co-chief investigator on the project 'BBAC: Non Communicable Disease (NCD) implementation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region' from 2023 to 2026 and was a recipient of the School Research Grant: Strategic Research Fund 2022 alongside colleagues. Key publications include 'Effectiveness of community pharmacist-led interventions in osteoarthritis pain management: A cluster-randomized trial' (2024, Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy), 'Health Effects of Various Edible Vegetable Oil: An Umbrella Review' (2024, Advances in Nutrition), 'The needs and gaps in pharmacogenomics knowledge and education among healthcare professionals in Malaysia: A multisite Delphi study' (2024, Clinical and Translational Science), 'Effectiveness of pharmacogenomics educational interventions on healthcare professionals and health professions students: a systematic review' (2023, Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy), and 'Cost-effectiveness of public health strategies on COVID-19 control: A systematic review' (2022, Progress in Microbes and Molecular Biology). Dr. Leong accepts PhD students, co-organizes workshops such as 'Critical Appraisal of Health Economic Evaluation' in 2024 and MyDispense platform training in 2025, and serves as an AI Change Champion supporting educators in generative AI use.
