Associate Professor Siobhan Reid serves as Senior Lecturer in the School of Human Sciences within the Faculty of Science at the University of Western Australia. Possessing over 20 years of experience in clinical biomechanics, she specializes in analyzing human movement and devising exercise rehabilitation programs for individuals with disabilities, especially those with neuromuscular conditions like cerebral palsy. As Course Coordinator for the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology and the integrated Bachelor-Master program, she oversees curriculum delivery. Her teaching portfolio includes units on Motor Control, Clinical Paediatrics & Disability such as SSEH3555 Motor Development: Principles to Teaching in Practice, SSEH5667 Clinical Paediatrics & Disability, and SSEH5645 Workplace Injury and Prevention. Furthermore, Reid directs the School's Paediatric Exercise Programs, facilitating physical activity for children aged 3-18 facing challenges in movement skills.
Reid's research agenda targets rehabilitation strategies for neurodevelopmental disabilities and diseases, encompassing evidence-based interventions for cerebral palsy management, exploration of musculoskeletal and neurodevelopmental pathways in cerebral palsy, and promotion of exercise for children with neurodevelopmental issues, movement disorders, and mental health conditions. She has attracted significant funding, notably a $1.5 million NHMRC MRFF grant from 2022-2027 for the CPMovetime project developing wearable sensors to combat sedentary behavior in non-ambulant children with cerebral palsy; a $278,000 BrightSpark Fellowship for enhancing botulinum neurotoxin Type A treatments; and various UWA grants exceeding $400,000 in value. Her scholarly output comprises 47 peer-reviewed articles among 60 research items, including recent works like "Movement difficulties in children with neurodevelopmental disorders: considering a transdiagnostic approach to classification" (McQueen et al., 2025, Disability and Rehabilitation), "Move to improve: protocol for a single-arm, pragmatic feasibility trial of an individualised physical activity programme for children with chronic conditions" (2025, BMJ Open), "Investigating the impact of developmental coordination difficulties across home, school, and community settings: Findings from the Australian Impact for DCD survey" (Reynolds et al., 2024, Research in Developmental Disabilities), "Psychosocial wellbeing, parental concerns, and familial impact of children with developmental coordination disorder" (Mancini et al., 2024, Research in Developmental Disabilities), and "A statistical shape model of soleus muscle morphology in spastic cerebral palsy" (Bin Ghouth et al., 2022, Scientific Reports).
