Dr. Sjoerd Vos is a Senior Research Fellow and National Imaging Facility (NIF) Fellow at the University of Western Australia's Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation, and Analysis (CMCA), where he oversees the new 3T human MRI scanner at the Western Australia NIF node. His academic background includes a BSc in Medical Natural Sciences (2007) and an MSc in Medical Physics (2009), both from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and a PhD in Medical Imaging from Utrecht University (2013), centered on analysis and visualization methods for interpreting diffusion MRI data. Prior to joining UWA in 2021, Vos spent seven years at University College London (UCL), starting in the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) and epilepsy imaging group. In 2019, he was appointed lecturer in Quantitative Neuroradiology with a joint role between CMIC and the Neuroradiology department at Queen Square, advancing quantitative neuroimaging for routine clinical use in dementia diagnosis and epilepsy, particularly hippocampal lesion detection and characterisation. He maintains active collaborations with UCL researchers on enhancing epilepsy surgical planning through white matter fibre tractography techniques.
