Solange Wasef is an Associate Professor and Discipline Coordinator in Nutrition at Palomar College. She earned a B.S. in Biochemistry, a B.A. in Chemistry, and an M.S. in Nutritional Science. As a Registered Dietitian, she has taught a variety of nutrition courses at California State University, Los Angeles, and Chaffey College. Prior to her work in higher education nutrition instruction, Professor Wasef taught language arts and mathematics to high school students. Her professional experience extends to weight counseling and nutrition outreach through meal delivery programs for the homebound.
Professor Wasef contributes as a writer for SuperKidsNutrition.com and has authored presentation materials for Tavis Smiley’s Road to Health Conference. She has developed weight-loss curriculum and holds a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. At Palomar College, she teaches NUTR 100 – Introduction to the Nutrition and Food Professions, NUTR 165 – Fundamentals of Nutrition, and NUTR 185 – Science of Human Nutrition. She actively participates in the Nutrition Advisory Committee, program review and planning processes, and curriculum committee activities. Additionally, she has supported resolutions at the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges to integrate Nutrition Science into general education curricula as a Cal-GETC Subject Area 5B course. Through these roles, Professor Wasef influences nutrition education and program development at Palomar College and beyond.
