Sonja Lynch is an Associate Professor of English at Wartburg College, part of the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultural Studies. Her academic credentials include a B.A. earned in 1982 from St. Olaf College, an M.A. obtained in 1989 from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Ph.D. completed in 1999 from Indiana University Bloomington. These qualifications underscore her expertise in English studies, enabling her to teach and mentor students in literature and related disciplines at Wartburg College.
Dr. Lynch contributes to campus intellectual life beyond the classroom. She serves as a faculty contact for the Library & Information Science Accelerated 4+1 Program. In Wartburg College's Keep on Learning series, she presented on “Momentary Glimpses: Exploring Impressionism in the Arts,” examining the Impressionism movement. She received Faculty Development Fund support to present on Victor LaValle's Destroyer: A Creature for Modern Times. Dr. Lynch has led Hearthside book discussions, including Colson Whitehead's Harlem Shuffle, and spoken at meetings of the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society. Additionally, she co-presented “Community Boundaries” with Rebecca Blair at the International Writing Across the Curriculum Conference in 2008. These activities demonstrate her engagement in public lectures, professional development, and literary discourse within the Wartburg community.
