About Stanley

Stanley Fenwick is an Emeritus Professor with a long-standing association with Massey University in New Zealand. He completed his PhD at Massey University in 1997, with a thesis titled Yersinia enterocolitica infections in people and other animals: a New Zealand study. His earlier qualifications include a BVMS and an MS in Tropical Veterinary Medicine from the University of Edinburgh. During his time at Massey University, Fenwick served in supervisory roles within the Department of Veterinary Pathology and Public Health, guiding numerous postgraduate students on topics in veterinary microbiology, including studies on leptospirosis, Campylobacter, Pasteurella, Brucella, and Yersinia species in animals.

Fenwick has contributed to research on zoonotic bacterial pathogens, with his foundational work at Massey University on Yersinia later recognised through the naming of a newly discovered bacterial species, Yersinia fenwicki, in his honour in 2026. He maintains an active international career focused on One Health initiatives and antimicrobial resistance, currently serving as Technical Lead for One Health and Animal Health at Mott MacDonald. Fenwick is also listed as Emeritus Professor at Murdoch University and has been involved in global projects addressing infectious diseases in animals and humans. His academic output includes numerous publications, with over 3,000 citations recorded on ResearchGate.
