Dr. Stefanija Klaric is an Associate Professor in Engineering at Charles Darwin University's Faculty of Science and Technology, as well as Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching in the College of Engineering, IT and Environment (CEITE). She earned her PhD and Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from J.J. Strossmayer University of Osijek, Croatia. Prior to her current roles, she served as an Assistant Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Faculty in Slavonski Brod, Croatia. At CDU, she holds positions including Discipline Chair in Engineering, Professor in Engineering, and supervisor for higher degree research students. Her expertise spans mechanical engineering, with leadership in research areas such as manufacturing, welding, and heat treatment.
Stefanija Klaric's research interests center on production technologies and the effects of production parameters on part properties, particularly in additive manufacturing processes, arc and solid-state welding processes, heat treatment, and metal materials analysis. Her scholarly contributions include over 20 research outputs since 2014, featuring peer-reviewed articles and conference papers. Key publications are "Effects of activating fluxes on geometry, microstructure, and hardness of duplex stainless-steel welds produced by GMAW with 316 L base metal" (International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2025, with H. Wang); "Effect of activating fluxes on the geometry, hardness, and microstructure of 316L stainless steel in GMAW" (International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2024, with H. Wang); "Preliminary Study of Bead-On-Plate Welding Bead Geometry for 316L Stainless Steel Using GMAW" (FME Transactions, 2024, with H. Wang and S. Havrlišan); "Study of Weld Bead Geometry for GMAW Additive Manufacturing of Duplex Stainless Steel" (FME Transactions, 2025, with H. Wang and Š. Klarić); "Influence of activating fluxes on metallurgical characterizations in welding process for steels: A review" (Metalurgija, 2024, with H. Wang and S. Havrlišan); and "A Post-implementation Analysis of Digital Transformation in Higher Education Curriculum Management Technology" (ICETOL 2025 proceedings, 2025, with F. Chong and L. King). She contributes to funded projects like "SmartBinder: An Additive Manufacturing-Based, AI-Driven System for Sustainable Crack Repair in Infrastructure" as Chief Investigator B and "Commercialisation of native rice for Indigenous enterprise development" as Principal Investigator. In teaching, she covers Dynamics and Manufacturing, emphasizing online technology applications in engineering education, in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
