About Stephanie

Associate Professor Stephanie Wyeth serves as Director of Engagement, Professional Planner in Residence, and Senior Lecturer in the Urban Planning Program within the School of Architecture, Design and Planning at The University of Queensland. A graduate with a Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning from the same institution, she joined UQ in 2019 following several years as a Director at a multidisciplinary planning and design firm, where she led projects addressing complex social, urban planning, and development issues. She previously served as Non-Executive Director on the Board of the South Bank Corporation from 2016 to 2022, Deputy Director of Engagement in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences from 2022 to 2023, Academic Advisor for the Bachelor of Urban Planning since 2021, and Co-founder and Director of the UQ City Impact Lab since 2021. As a pracademic, she bridges the theory-practice divide by facilitating knowledge exchange among university, industry, and community stakeholders, and brokers collaborations for public interest projects. She contributes to advisory forums, judging panels including Logan Urban Design Awards and Lord Mayor's Business Awards, and delivers public lectures and industry talks.

Wyeth's academic interests encompass urban research, strategic planning practice, gender and cities, planning for climate resilience, placemaking, housing policy and practice, and inclusive planning and design for children, young people, and women. Her key publications include journal articles such as "Building to the lowest common denominator: how uncertainty of approval, cost and delays discourage housing diversity in infill development projects" (2025, Cities, with Gallagher, Sigler, and Liu), "Do housing preferences reduce feasibility of densification? Perspectives of planning and development experts and residents" (2025, Australian Planner, with Gallagher, Sigler, and Liu), "Sustaining a resilient housing system in southeast Queensland" (2024, Australian Planner, with Alidoust et al.), "Practice reflections on the pandemic from South East Queensland" (2023), and "Gender bias in the planning industry and planning outcomes" (2021, Australian Planner, with Sahama and Pojani).
