Stephen P. Robbins is professor emeritus of management at San Diego State University and a distinguished alumnus of the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management in the field of Business & Economics, where he earned his Ph.D. and previously held a faculty position. Before dedicating his career to academia, he gained practical experience in industry, working for the Shell Oil Company and Reynolds Metals Industrial Company, and serving as a plant manager for Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. He also taught at the University of Portland. Robbins is widely recognized as the world's No. 1 best-selling textbook author in the areas of management and organizational behavior, with his works shaping the education of countless students and professionals in business schools globally.
Among his major publications are "Organizational Behavior" (co-authored with Timothy A. Judge in multiple editions), "Essentials of Organizational Behavior," "Management" (with Mary Coulter), "Fundamentals of Management," and "The Truth About Managing People...and Nothing But the Truth" (2nd edition, 2003). These textbooks provide comprehensive insights into organizational theory, leadership, motivation, teams, communication, and human resource practices. In 2015, Robbins demonstrated his enduring commitment to his alma mater by donating $1 million to establish the Stephen Robbins Endowed Professorship in Management at the Eller College of Management. This prestigious chair supports outstanding faculty in advancing teaching and research in management and organizations. Furthermore, as a Ph.D. alumnus of the department, he funds two PhD student fellowships, contributing to the development of future scholars in the discipline.
