Dr. Steve Condon is the third President and Professor at the United States Sports Academy, operating as the United States Sports University, a role he assumed in January 2023. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in education from the University of Mississippi, an Ed.S. from the University of Alabama, a Master’s degree in curriculum design and development from Florida State University, a Bachelor’s degree in education from Boston State College, and post-doctoral study in educational management at Harvard University. Dr. Condon began his professional journey as an elementary school teacher, fostering a lifelong passion for student development and educational leadership that has defined his 44-year career in higher education.
Dr. Condon has held presidential or chancellorial positions at Tennessee Wesleyan University, John Wesley University, and Carolina University, where he most recently served as Chancellor since 2018. He previously acted as Dean or Vice President at Huntingdon University, Lambuth University, University of St. Thomas, LeTourneau University, and Reinhardt University. In athletics administration, he served as Athletic Director at Jeff Davis University, Huntingdon University, University of St. Thomas, Reinhardt University, and Carolina University. Celebrated for driving enrollment growth, fundraising success, and assembling dynamic teams, his coaching record includes leading golf teams to four national championships at Huntingdon College, securing a gold medal at the 1988 World Championships and a silver medal at the 1986 event, election to the NCAA Coaches Hall of Fame in 2014, five National Coach of the Year awards, and two NACDA Administrator of the Year selections. In his current leadership at USSU, he advances a student-centered strategic plan featuring expanded enrollment, new intercollegiate sports teams, innovative degree programs, and enhanced global reputation. He is married to Rebecca Condon and has two children, Kurt and Alexis.
