Rate My Professor Steve Morris

Professor Steve Morris is an Emeritus Professor in the School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University’s College of Sciences. Over a 45-year career at the university, he established himself as a leading international authority on pastoral cattle and sheep production, with particular expertise in beef cattle systems. His research and industry engagement have contributed to the development of new production systems and improvements in the efficiency of existing ones, helping position New Zealand’s pastoral beef and sheep industries as world-leading. Professor Morris has led or contributed to more than 165 livestock research projects and authored over 250 refereed scientific papers along with more than 320 additional publications on sheep and beef cattle production. He has served as a trainer, workshop facilitator, author and international speaker, providing professional reviews of beef cattle and livestock enterprises across Asia, Oceania, South America, Europe and the Pacific.

Professor Morris served on the Massey University Animal Ethics Committee for 14 years, including as Deputy Chair from 1996 to 2003, and was President of the New Zealand Society of Animal Production in 2012. His contributions have been recognised with the Sir Arthur Ward Award from the New Zealand Society of Animal Production in 2008, the Massey University Team Research Award in 2011, and the Massey University Research Medal for supervision in 2013.
