About Tai

Tai Lockspeiser, MD, MHPE, is Professor of Pediatrics-General Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus, where she holds the inaugural Jones Family Endowed Chair of Medical Education. She serves as Associate Dean of Medical Education for Assessment, Evaluation, and Outcomes and as Medical Director of the Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program. Lockspeiser earned a BA from Stanford University in 2001, an MD from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine in 2006, and an M.Ed from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014. She completed her pediatrics internship in 2007, residency in 2009, and chief residency in 2010 at UCSF, and holds board certification in pediatrics since 2009. She recently obtained leadership coaching certification from Assenter Coaching. Clinically, she practices as a general pediatrician at the Child Health Clinic, supervising medical students and residents.

Lockspeiser's academic interests center on medical education, including curriculum development, learner assessment, and educational scholarship, with a focus on learning goals and assessment. She contributes to local and national faculty development workshops, serves on the AAMC Research in Medical Education planning committee, and is a member of the University of Colorado Academy of Medical Educators. She has received numerous teaching awards from students and residents as well as national awards for educational research. Her publications appear in leading journals such as Academic Medicine and Academic Pediatrics. Notable works include 'The 2025 RIME Foreword: The Case of the Missing Theory' (Academic Medicine, 2025), 'Scholarly Program Evaluation: How to Increase the Chance of Publishing Your Education Work' (Academic Medicine, 2025), ''Yourself in all your forms': A grounded theory exploration of identity safety in medical students' (Medical Education, 2024), 'Secondary Traumatic Stress in Medical Students During Clinical Clerkships' (Academic Medicine, 2025), and 'A Narrative Review of Key Studies in Medical Education in 2022' (Academic Pediatrics, 2024). Her work has influenced competency-based assessment and continuous improvement in the MD program.
