Teresa García is Senior Lecturer in Spanish Language Education at King’s College London’s Language Centre, where she joined in 2004. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1990), a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the same university (2002), a Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults from International House, London (2003), and an MA in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Cultural Studies from Birkbeck, University of London (2015). Fluent in Spanish, English, and French, she has extensive experience in higher education language teaching. García serves as Programme Director for the Arts & Humanities provisions within the Language Centre and as Team Leader for Iberian Languages, overseeing all teaching and learning activities in Catalan, Portuguese, and Spanish.
García is a co-founder of the Association of Teachers of Spanish in the UK (ELEUK), dedicated to fostering research, sharing excellence, and promoting good practice in Spanish language teaching at university level. Since 2021, she has contributed to the “Decolonising the Spanish curriculum” project with the Special Interest Group SIG Des-ELEUK, collaborating with colleagues from 19 universities across the UK and Spain, where she co-coordinates the group's extensive work. Her academic interests encompass innovative language teaching approaches and pedagogies, the use of cinema and visual arts in language instruction, curriculum design, intercultural communication, pedagogy of Spanish as a foreign language, and collaborative research on decolonising language teaching and reflective pedagogical practices.
