About Terri

Dr. Terri Lee Zhuan Ean serves as Senior Lecturer and Senior Laboratory Manager in the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering at Xiamen University Malaysia. She obtained her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in 2016 and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Resource Chemistry from the same institution in 2012. In her current role, she teaches courses including BSC110 Analytical Chemistry and BSC205 Analytical Chemistry Laboratory while overseeing laboratory operations.

Her research focuses on biomass valorization studies along with the development of eco-friendly biosorbents for water and wastewater treatment applications. Specific interests encompass analytical chemistry, environmental monitoring, green chemistry, and the removal of pollutants such as organic carbon, ammonia, heavy metals, dyes, and emerging contaminants from aqueous systems. Notable publications include the 2022 paper on natural deep eutectic solvents in Food Hydrocolloids, the 2021 study on adsorption of Cd(II) ions by coconut copra in IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, and the 2019 article on coconut copra as a biosorbent in Key Engineering Materials. Additional works from 2014 and 2015 address rice husk applications and humic substance removal. She received bronze medals in the 2019 China College Students’ ‘Internet Plus’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the Materials Technology Challenge, plus a silver medal in the 1st China-Malaysia Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Dr. Lee is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry and has contributed to local research grants on pollutant removal and spectroscopic detection methods.
