Associate Professor Thanh Pham is affiliated with the School of Education, Culture and Society in the Faculty of Education at Monash University. She obtained her MA and PhD in Educational Studies from the University of Queensland. Pham started her academic career as a university lecturer and worked in schools in Australia while completing her postgraduate degrees. She then held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Queensland before joining Monash University as a lecturer and advancing to Associate Professor. Her research specializations encompass graduate employability, globalisation, and intercultural education and pedagogies. She explores how students and graduates develop and mobilise resources to negotiate employability and career transitions across diverse socio-cultural contexts, with studies spanning higher education, schools, and vocational training in Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Japan. Pham's teaching areas include transitions from university to workplace, graduate employability, intercultural education, pedagogical practices, globalisation, school-family partnerships, and research methodology.
Pham has received notable awards including the Advancing Women’s Research Success Grant (2018), ATEA Research Recognition Awards for Early Career Researchers (2014), Carolyn D. Baker Memorial Scholarship (2012), Dissemination grant (2014), and Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowships (2012). Key publications comprise 'What really contributes to employability of PhD graduates in uncertain labour markets?' (Globalisation, Societies and Education, 2025), 'Forms of agency enacted by international Ph.D. holders in Australia and Ph.D. returnees in China to negotiate employability' (Compare: A Journal of Comparative and International Education, 2025), 'Contributions of employability capitals to the employability of Chinese international graduates in Australia' (Journal of Studies in International Education, 2025), 'Global careers in Australia and New Zealand' (in International Careers and Academia: Professors without Borders, Routledge, 2025), and 'TELADAN Program Evaluation Report: Enhancing Leadership Capacity and Graduate Employability in Indonesia' (2025). She serves as Associate Editor of Higher Education Research & Development, reviews for Higher Education and other journals, acts as Education Representative in her school, and is a member of Monash University's Career Impact Working Group.
