Thano Chaltas

Thano Chaltas is Professor of the Practice of Engineering at Brown University School of Engineering. A Brown University alumnus of the Class of 1987 (P'24), he earned a BA in Religious Studies from Brown and an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management with concentrations in Marketing, Finance, and Organizational Behavior. Chaltas brings extensive industry experience to his teaching role in Engineering, where he instructs undergraduate and graduate students in strategic business management, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

An accomplished Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager, Chaltas has over 20 years of experience across Fortune 500 companies including Kraft and Procter & Gamble, mid-cap companies such as Ocean Spray Cranberries and UST, and private equity-owned companies like WellPet. He designs and implements innovative strategies to drive P&L accountability, business growth, and brand success. At Brown, his courses include ENGN 0090: Management of Industrial and Nonprofit Organizations, ENGN 0900: Managerial Decision Making, and ENGN 2120: Business Engineering Fundamentals II. Listed among the Innovation Management and Design Engineering faculty, he contributes to the PRIME Masters in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship program. Chaltas previously served as faculty advisor to the Brown Jabberwocks a cappella group, providing arrangements for the all-student-athlete ensemble. His office is in Barus & Holley 351.
