About Theodora

Dr. Theodora Issa is an academic and casual teaching staff member in the UWA Business School, Department of Management and Organisations at the University of Western Australia. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Management from Curtin University in 2005, with a thesis titled 'Ethical Mindsets, Aesthetics and Spirituality: A Mixed-Methods Approach Analysis of the Australian Services Sector,' which received the EFMD/Emerald Outstanding Doctoral Research Award in 2010. Her additional qualifications include a Master of Business Administration, Master of Management Research from the University of Western Australia, and Master of Electronic Commerce from Murdoch University. Previously, she worked in the financial sector as an Account Relationship Manager, Training Officer, and Credit Manager, and served as a lecturer and unit coordinator at Curtin Business School. She contributes to teaching units such as Employment Relations, Work and Society (EMPL1101) and has been invited to deliver lectures as an Ethics Specialist.

Issa's research interests focus on business ethics, ethical mindsets, spirituality, aesthetics, sustainability, Green IT, leadership, social media, and corporate social responsibility. Key publications include 'Ethical Mindsets, Spirituality and Aesthetics in an Australian Business Context' (2010), 'Leadership and Spirituality: Spiritual Leadership' (2009), 'Green IT -- An Introduction' (2010), 'Teaching Business Ethics to Postgraduates: Does it Make a Difference? An Australian Viewpoint' (2010), 'Teamwork Assessment and Self/Peer Evaluation at the Postgraduate Level' (2023), and 'Spiritual Direction and Soul Friendship' (2026). Her work is cited over 1,700 times on Google Scholar. Recognized as Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management (FAIM), she also received Curtin Business School's New Researcher of the Year award in 2010. Issa serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Ethics, Environment and Responsibility (Wiley) and the Social Issues in Management division of the Academy of Management, and participates in editorial committees, conference organizing, and peer reviewing. In 2026, she commenced research on Imperial Women in the 6th-7th Centuries.
