Thomas Cochrane

Thomas Cochrane serves as Associate Professor of Technology Enhanced Learning in Higher Education in the Centre for the Study of Higher Education (CSHE), Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne. He earned degrees including BE, BD, GDHE, MTS, MComp, and a PhD in Education from Monash University in 2011. His career has focused on advancing educational technology integration in higher education settings. Cochrane leads the Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) research programme at Melbourne CSHE, bridging research and practice through multidisciplinary expertise. He holds professional designations SCMALT and SFHEA, recognizing his contributions to learning technology and higher education pedagogy.

Cochrane's research specializations include mobile learning, immersive reality, wearable technologies, technology-enhanced simulation, design-based research, authentic learning, ePortfolios, educational technology, online learning, the flipped classroom, learning analytics, digital feedback, and the Scholarship of Technology Enhanced Learning (SoTEL).
