Dr Toyin Aderiye, CMBE, CIWFM, MCIPD, SFHEA, is the Associate Head in the Business, Management and People Division of Sheffield Business School at Sheffield Hallam University. With more than ten years of experience in industry prior to entering academia, she joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2016 as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Service Sector Management. Her academic background includes a PhD in Facilities Management awarded in 2015, titled ‘Cultural Fit’ and the Socialisation of External Service Provider Employees in Client Organisations, a Master of Science in Facilities Management, and a Bachelor's degree. In her leadership role, she manages academic operations across the Business School, including flexible staff deployment, effective resource management, and adherence to academic quality standards. She collaborates with the Division Head to cultivate an inclusive and high-performing culture, supports strategic objectives, implements key projects, and works with central university teams to deliver the Business School’s new suite of online courses.
Aderiye's research focuses on organisational culture and socialisation, with particular emphasis on facilities management aspects such as cultural fit, outsourcing, and cultural integration of external service providers. She investigates the influences of culture, motivation, people, and services on organisations, especially in workplace settings, and is passionate about multidisciplinary research and the dual concepts of people and place, including hybrid working, wellbeing, and work-life balance. Notable publications include the peer-reviewed article ‘Cultural integration of external service provider employees into client workplaces’ co-authored with Matthew Tucker in the Journal of Facilities Management (2016); the book chapter ‘Organisational socialisation theory: Integrating outsourced FM employees into organisations’ in A Handbook of Management Theories and Models for Office Environments and Services (2021); and ‘Inclusive Human Resource Management’ with Andrea Subryan and Paul Stokes in Responsible Human Resource Management: Sustainable, Ethical and Inclusive (2025). Additional contributions encompass her doctoral thesis (2015) and an article ‘Dressed for succession’ in Facilitate Magazine (2019). She teaches modules in FM Service Delivery, Projects, Managing Premises, and Research Methods, supervises postgraduate students in people and place, facilities management, leadership, organisational culture, hybrid working, wellbeing, and work-life balance, and serves on committees such as the EFMD MBA Conference Committee, UFHRD Research Development Committee, IWFM Education Committee, and IWFM Awards Committee.
