About Trish

Professor Trish Todd, also known as Patricia Todd, held the position of Professor of Employment Relations and served as Head of the Management and Organisations Discipline Group within the UWA Business School at the University of Western Australia. Her academic career centered on employment relations and industrial relations, with a strong emphasis on gender equity, work-life balance, managing diversity, employer associations, trade unions, and comparative studies particularly in Australia and Malaysia.

Todd's key publications include the 'Report on the Review of the Gender Pay Gap in Western Australia' (2004, co-authored with Joan Eveline), which analyzed wage disparities and policy implications; 'Work–life Balance: Is it Now a Problem for Management?' (2011), examining managerial perspectives on work-life integration; 'Australian industrial relations in 2013' (2014), offering an overview of annual developments; 'Globalization and Industrial Relations in Malaysia' (2000, with David Peetz), exploring globalization's effects on labor relations; 'Teaching managing diversity via feminist theory' (2002); and 'Malaysian Industrial Relations at Century's Turn: Vision 2020 or a Spectre of the Past?' (2001). Her scholarship also covers topics such as intercultural contact in universities, repressive labor legacies in Malaysia, and workplace regulation under frameworks like individual agreements and the Fair Work Act. Todd has influenced policy through advisory roles, including Chair of the Western Australian Commission for Occupational Safety and Health (appointed 2021) and Chair of the Mining and Petroleum Advisory Committee, applying her expertise to occupational health and mining sector labor issues. With 25 publications cited over 550 times, her work has shaped discourse on gender mainstreaming, union development, and diversity management in academic and public sectors.
