Tushar Sen is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the WA School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Curtin University. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay from 1998 to 2001, supported by a Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India fellowship under the Quality Improvement Programme. Prior to his appointment at Curtin University in 2008 as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, he worked as a Research Fellow at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia.
His research specializations and academic interests lie in water, energy, environment, materials, and separation processes, with particular focus on materials in water treatment, water and industrial wastewater treatment processes including physical, chemical, and biological methods, biogas energy through anaerobic digestion and dewatering processes, membrane separation processes, solar desalination, secondary treatment, synthesis of magnetic nanocomposite materials, zeolite synthesis, and flocculants, coagulants, and chemical agents in dewatering. Tushar Sen has contributed significantly through key publications such as "Municipal sewage sludge dewatering performance enhancement by ultrasonic cavitation and advanced oxidation: A case study" (2024), "Biomethane Production Through Performance Enhancement of Anaerobic Digestion and Sludge Dewatering Processes in a Wastewater Treatment Plant" (2024), "Applications of drag reducers for the pipeline transportation of heavy crude oils: A critical review and future research directions" (2023), "Agricultural Solid Wastes Based Adsorbent Materials in the Remediation of Heavy Metal Ions from Water and Wastewater by Adsorption: A Review" (2023), "Adsorptive Removal of Dye (Methylene Blue) Organic Pollutant from Water by Pine Tree Leaf Biomass Adsorbent" (2023), and "The role of adsorption of a natural surfactant at oil–water interface in enhanced oil recovery: interfacial rheology, and structural, and emulsifying analyses" (2023). He edited the book "Clay Minerals: Properties, Occurrence and Uses." His influence in the field is demonstrated by a Google Scholar h-index of 23, Scopus h-index of 20, and over 12,500 citations. He serves as Associate Editor of a ScholarOne journal and holds an adjunct position at Curtin University alongside his role as Professor at King Faisal University.
