About Uwana

Dr. Uwana Evers is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at the UWA Business School, University of Western Australia. She earned her PhD in Psychology from the University of Wollongong between 2010 and 2013, supported by a full Australian Postgraduate Award Industry scholarship. Her career trajectory encompasses roles such as Research Fellow and Lecturer at UWA, Casual Academic at the University of Wollongong, Honorary Research Fellow at University College London, Psychology Research Analyst at Thomas International in London, Data Scientist at Pureprofile, and Senior Research Analyst at Puzzle Partners. A BPS Chartered Psychologist, she currently teaches Marketing Communications and Global Marketing Strategy, having previously instructed in Marketing Research and introductory Psychology. Uwana also holds the position of department Integrity Officer for Marketing within the UWA Business School.

Uwana's research centers on sustainable and conscious consumption, social marketing and behaviour change, personal values, prosocial behaviour including charitable giving, and cross-cultural psychology. She publishes in prestigious journals such as Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Tourism Management, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Politics, and BMC Public Health. Notable publications include "Are value–behavior relations stronger than previously thought? It depends on value importance" (Lee et al., 2022), "On the relationship between valence and arousal in samples across the globe" (Yik et al., 2022), "Support for a COVID-19 vaccine mandate in the face of safety concerns and political affiliations: An Australian study" (Smith, Attwell & Evers, 2022), "Does Materialism Hinder Relational Well-Being? The Role of Culture and Social Motives" (Yoo et al., 2021), and "Identifying influencers on social media" (Harrigan et al., 2021). Uwana has been awarded the UWA Business School UniBank Excellence in Teaching Award for Undergraduate Coursework Large Class in 2017 (shared with F. Liu), a Commercialisation Training Scheme scholarship for 2011-2012, and her PhD scholarship. She disseminates her research through presentations at conferences like the International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP), World Social Marketing Conference (WSMC), and Australian & New Zealand Marketing Association Conference (ANZMAC), and is associated with the Centre for Human and Cultural Values at UWA.
