Dr Vahid Mirzabeiki is a Senior Lecturer in Operations Management at the Surrey Business School, University of Surrey. He earned his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tehran in 2005, MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in 2008 and PhD in 2013 from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice from Cranfield University in 2017. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and a Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI). Before joining Surrey, he was Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at Cranfield University School of Management from 2013 to 2018, and then Senior Lecturer in Operations Management and Director of the Executive MBA Apprenticeship Programme at Coventry University Business School from 2018 to 2020, contributing to securing a £0.5 million contract from the UK Ministry of Justice. Currently, he serves as Visiting Faculty at Bayes Business School (City St George's, University of London), leads the Supply Chain Design, Planning and Analysis module in Surrey's MSc Business Analytics programme, and has undertaken external examining roles at Middlesex University Business School and the University of Sussex.
Vahid's research centres on inter-organisational technology adoption in supply chains, encompassing omni-channel integration, supply chain intelligence for agility and resilience, RFID-enabled collaborative tracking and tracing, blockchain for complexity management, and Central Bank Digital Currencies for enhancing financial transactions. His work has been published in top journals including International Journal of Operations & Production Management, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Business Research, and International Journal of Production Research. Key publications include 'Panarchy-based transformative supply chain resilience: the role of supply chain capital' (2023), 'Sustainability-driven co-opetition in supply chains as strategic capabilities: drivers, facilitators and barriers' (2021), 'Buyer-led environmental supplier development: can suppliers really help it?' (2021), and 'From ambition to action: How to achieve integration in omni-channel?' (2020). He is a member of the Editorial Review Boards for International Journal of Operations and Production Management and Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, has acted as Principal Investigator on UK Research and Innovation Economic and Social Research Council-funded projects, and received the Surrey Business School Mid-Career Researcher of the Year Award in 2021/22. Vahid has collaborated with industry leaders such as DHL, Volvo, Nestlé, Pladis, and GS1, chaired sessions at international conferences like DSI, EurOMA, and POMS, delivered guest lectures at the University of Bristol and University of Lyon, and presented research to the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Digital Money and Digital Markets at the House of Lords.
